Rene Russo was born in Burbank California. Her parents were Shirley (Balocca) who was a barmaid as well as a factory laborer, and Nino Russo. Rene's father, a mechanic and sculptor left her family around the age of two. The mother of the child raised Rene as well as her sister Toni on her own. Her father, an Italian with a German-Italian-English-Irish heritage was her mom. Rene was diagnosed with scoliosis when she was in her junior year and was required to wear a torso-length brace.
